fashion forward

Since I labelled myself fashion blogger, I figured I should cover a little story about Amsterdam Fashion Week. Today I went there to see a fashion show by Dutch designer Dennis Diem (4 D's, I KNOW, that's a real tongue twister right there). I hadn't really heard of him before, so I did a little Google research on the guy and it seems as though he (and many fashion designers with him) likes to work in themes. Last year he did a dark fairytale themed show, this year's show reminded me of Les Miserables, which I actually went to see yesterday. This must be a coincidence, he probably started on the show when the movie wasn't even in theatres yet. The colour and materials of the clothes gave me a little deja vu though. The deja vu continued when I saw the 'revolutionaires' hanging around barricades at the start of the runway. I was waiting for them to start singing, unfortunately this only happened in my mind. Wink wink. Enough with the joking, the historical theme worked really well and I enjoyed watching this unique and dreamy show very much. My favourite piece is the beautiful winged wedding dress, which you can see in the last picture.

P.S. on further inspection my Les Miserables deja vu kind of made sense, the theme of this show was Florence Nightingale. Both stories took place in the 19th century.

    1. Zielig he? Maar wel lief hoe Carlo Wijnands en Dennis Diem zelf er mee om gingen! Kan me er ook iets bij voorstellen dat je onderuitgaat op hakken waar een panty overheen zit..
